We have an excellent opportunity for a Contract Recruiter to join our team.


Our protein engineering capabilities and the modular nature of our XmAb technology allow us to quickly identify and create new platforms and drug candidates for potential development. We are advancing a deep clinical pipeline of novel drug candidates, including eight bispecific antibodies and two engineered cytokines, and more programs are expected to start clinical testing in 2022. We also leverage our many XmAb technologies by collaborating with leading global biopharmaceutical companies, including Genentech and Janssen Biotech, among others, and including our partnerships, 20 XmAb drug candidates are advancing through clinical development. Three XmAb medicines, to treat patients with a range of serious illnesses, such as aggressive lymphoma, rare blood disorders and COVID-19, are now marketed worldwide by partners.

This is a contract position for 6-12 months 

Hybrid position: 1-2 days onsite at either our San Diego or Monrovia offices

Job Summary:

We are looking for a passionate, results-oriented Contract Recruiter.  The Contract Recruiter will be responsible for supporting Talent Acquisition strategies and full lifecycle recruiting.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Full lifecycle recruiting process (sourcing, screening, interviews, evaluations, offer determination, and offer letter process)
  • Partners with hiring managers to define roles, manage requisitions, and develop recruitment strategies effective for job opening
  • Works with Sr. Manager to develop, negotiates and delivers terms for offers for employment
  • Sources a diverse, qualified candidate pool for open requisitions through various means (searching in Applicant Tracking System (ATS), external databases, internet/job board posting, social media, professional networking, etc.)
  • Consistently tracks candidate process and dispositions timely in ATS to maintain accurate recruitment data
  • Leads consensus meetings on candidate decisions ensuring all aspects of each evaluation meets Xencor’s values for inclusion and diversity
  • Manages interview guidance/strategy to interview teams
  • Maintains recruiting files and appropriate documentation
  • Manages the interview process and assessment capabilities across the organization to ensure consistency and compliance requirements are met
  • Drives for results; demonstrates timely action to address important issues and a strong sense of ownership and a commitment to achieving meaningful results
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Position requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of recruiting experience, or any similar combination of education and experience.  A Bachelor's degree and/or Human Resources certificate or PHR/SPHR and/or AIRS certification is strongly preferred.  Requires at least 1-year full lifecycle recruiting experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry. Prior experience partnering with senior management to recruit for difficult to fill positions preferred.

  • Knowledge of current best practices within the human resource profession in addition to federal, state and local employment-related regulations
  • Compiles, creates and analyzes reports with metrics and results as required
  • Ensures that policies and procedures are followed in accordance with federal, state and company/department regulations and requirements
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational and communication skills (verbal, written, presentation) required
  • Significant experience using computers and software programs (e.g., MS Office Suite; HRIS; and ATS)

The physical, mental and working environment demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the primary functions of this position.


The physical demands of the office are normally associated with extended amounts of time sitting and using office equipment, including a computer, keyboard and mouse, which can cause muscle strain. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit. Periodic light lifting of supplies and materials may apply.

  • Ability to multitask without loss of efficiency or accuracy, including the ability to perform multiple duties from multiple sources.

Occasional travel may be required, including travel between Xencor’s Monrovia and San Diego offices. Work for this position is generally performed at Xencor’s worksite and requires full-time commitment.
