We have an excellent opportunity for an Sr. Manager, Bioinformatics to join our team. This position will be based in San Diego and a hybrid position with 2 days in office per week.

 

Our protein engineering capabilities and the modular nature of our XmAb technology allow us to quickly identify and create new platforms and drug candidates for potential development. We are advancing a deep clinical pipeline of novel drug candidates, including eight bispecific antibodies and two engineered cytokines, and more programs are expected to start clinical testing in 2022. We also leverage our many XmAb technologies by collaborating with leading global biopharmaceutical companies, including Genentech and Janssen Biotech, among others, and including our partnerships, 20 XmAb drug candidates are advancing through clinical development. Three XmAb medicines, to treat patients with a range of serious illnesses, such as aggressive lymphoma, rare blood disorders and COVID-19, are now marketed worldwide by partners.

Position Summary:

Responsible for supporting data analyses for clinical and pre-clinical programs and preclinical biomarker data management


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support the bioinformatics team which supports data analysis for the clinical and pre-clinical pipeline, as well as work with teams from Translational Biology, Biostatistics and Pre-Clinical Research Groups at Xencor.
  • Performs data integration of various types of biomarker data (e.g., flow cytometry RNAseq, Nanostring) from Xencor preclinical cyno and mouse studies as well as clinical programs
  • Integrates public data sources for internal data mining (e.g., CCLE, scRNAseq, TCGA etc.)
  • Contributes to development of NGS data processing pipeline
  • Conduct exploratory analyses to find predictive biomarker for patient stratification using high dimensional data
  • Contributes to the development of biomarker, pharmacodynamic and other specialty-lab sections of clinical protocols, including selection of assays and analysis endpoints and authorship of statistical sections of protocols
  • Performs analyses of biomarker data and collaborates with clinical statisticians to transition biomarker analysis outputs into specifications for study tables, listings and figures (TLFs) for clinical study reports, publications and medical conference presentations as needed
  • Performs analyses of biomarker data in support of presentations, publications, advanced and exploratory analyses and prototyping of outputs for clinical study reports
  • Collaborates with Clinical Data Management to review data collection and sample management procedures for biomarker endpoints and reviews data transfer specifications to ensure that all data necessary to meet the biomarker-related objectives of the study are collected appropriately
  • Represents bioinformatics as an ad-hoc member of clinical study teams as needed
  • Curates preclinical and clinical biomarker data and design analyses and visualization on internal biomarker web portal and coordinate collaborations involving biomarker data
  • Adheres to all department and company-wide policies regarding conduct, performance and procedures
  • Performs other duties as required.


Education/Experience/Skills:

Position requires a Masters degree in bioinformatics, computer science, statistics, mathematics, or a closely related discipline plus 8 years of industry experience, a Ph.D. with 4 years industry experience preferred. Experience with R, AWS or python programing, RShiny and RMarkdown development framework, and hands-on experience with the bioinformatics analysis of flow cytometry and IHC data analysis preferred. Working knowledge of autoimmunity, oncology and with T cell engagers and cytokine therapies also preferred.

Occasional travel may be required, including travel between Xencor’s Monrovia and San Diego offices. Work for this position is generally performed at Xencor’s worksite and requires full-time commitment.
