Our protein engineering capabilities and the modular nature of our XmAb technology allow us to quickly identify and create new platforms and drug candidates for potential development. We are advancing a deep clinical pipeline of novel drug candidates, including eight bispecific antibodies and two engineered cytokines, and more programs are expected to start clinical testing in 2022. We also leverage our many XmAb technologies by collaborating with leading global biopharmaceutical companies, including Genentech and Janssen Biotech, among others, and including our partnerships, 20 XmAb drug candidates are advancing through clinical development. Three XmAb medicines, to treat patients with a range of serious illnesses, such as aggressive lymphoma, rare blood disorders and COVID-19, are now marketed worldwide by partners.

We currently have an excellent opportunity for a talented Human Resources Generalist to join our team!  

 Position Summary:

Responsible for providing comprehensive support with the daily activities, policies, procedures and programs of the Human Resources department.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates offboarding process for terminating employees, including preparing and processing applicable termination documents, reviewing with separating employee, obtaining signatures and filing as applicable
  • Administers the online Harassment Prevention Training program and coordinates other employee training as required
  • Performs HRIS audits as necessary
  • Responsible for accuracy of personnel files, conducts audits as needed and/or directed
  • Administers the online company benefits programs including PlanSource
  • Administers company health and welfare benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance and short- and long-term disability
  • Monitors Short Term Disability enrollment on a monthly basis for outsourced Leave of Absence program (Larkin file feed)
  • Performs regular audits of the benefits system (PlanSource), addressing issues and resolving discrepancies
  • Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries
  • Organizes benefits Open Enrollment activities including communication and related training
  • Coordinates benefit strategy meetings with brokers, HR and Finance
  • Assists with the preparation of the annual total rewards statements, including document data gathering, development and rollout
  • Researches and recommends employee benefits and programs to enhance culture and company values
  • Assists with filing of workers' compensation case files; follows-up on open cases
  • Administers employee spotlight program (Get Connected)
  • Supports the new hire buddy program (Navigator)
  • Orders and maintains inventory of corporate promotional items, distributes items as necessary
  • Works with Accounting to review payroll change reports to ensure integrity of employee data
  • Monitors HR inbox and responds to employee questions, referring to HR colleagues as needed
  • Responds to Verification of Employment (VOE) requests per company policy
  • Coordinates and organizes company events and special festivities
  • Assists in the implementation of department policies, procedures and programs
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations
  • Contributes as needed to any or all other HR activities including recruitment, onboarding/offboarding, policy implementation, performance management, employee relations, and employment law compliance 
  • Maintains company org charts through Org Chart Now, files and records monthly copy
  • Responsible for regularly sending HRIS feed report for financial planning benefit program
  • Serves as backup for New Hire Orientations and may assist with onboarding activities
  • Coordinates and maintains San Diego gym waivers
  • Adheres to all department and company-wide policies regarding conduct, performance and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Position minimally requires a High School diploma/GED and 8 years of progressive HR experience.  A Bachelor’s degree and with at least 5 years of progressive HR experience preferred.  Requires at least 2 years’  experience administering employee benefit programs, general recruitment, compensation programs, and policy and procedure interpretation.  Relevant experience gained within the biotech or life sciences industry strongly preferred.


Position also requires:

  • Familiarity with the biotech and life sciences industry strongly preferred

Physical, Mental and Environment Demands:

The physical, mental and working environment demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the primary functions of this position.


The physical demands of the office are normally associated with extended amounts of time sitting and using office equipment, including a computer, keyboard and mouse, which can cause muscle strain. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit. Periodic light lifting of supplies and materials may apply.

Occasional travel may be required, including travel between Xencor’s Monrovia and San Diego offices. Work for this position is generally performed at Xencor’s worksite and requires full-time commitment.
