Our protein engineering capabilities and the modular nature of our technology allow us to quickly identify and create new platforms and drug candidates for potential development. We are developing a broad portfolio enabled by the rapid expansion of our bispecific technologies, and nine XmAb bispecific antibodies and cytokines are in clinical testing. We also leverage our many XmAb technologies by engaging in multiple collaborations with leading global biopharmaceutical companies, including Novartis, Amgen, and Genentech, among others. Including our partners, over a dozen XmAb drug candidates are advancing through clinical development, and the first antibody that incorporates an XmAb technology has been approved for commercial marketing worldwide.

The Xencor Legal team is seeking a Patent Coordinator to contribute to efforts in managing, protecting, and expanding Xencor’s intellectual property. The successful candidate will be a key player in insuring intellectual property protection of our diverse collection of engineered protein and antibody variants.



  • Communicating with various scientific groups including in particular the protein engineering group to identify and understand key intellectual property
  • Working with the Sr. Patent Agent, the General Counsel, and outside legal counsel to assist in the preparation of provisional and utility patent applications
  • Providing intellectual property related analysis on issues such as freedom to operate
  • Perform diligence and identify potential research opportunities on new targets/ideas through strategic literature and patent database searches
  • Provide competitive intelligence by monitoring patent filing activities and publications/abstracts of competitors
  • Docketing and managing critical actions



  • Degree in biological science (B.Sc.) with highly relevant work experience in the biotechnology industry
  • Experience with concepts related to antibodies is highly desired

The physical demands of the office are normally association with extended amounts of time sitting and using office equipment, including a computer, keyboard, and mouse, which can cause muscle strain. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. Periodic light lifting of supplies and materials may apply. Ability to Adjust, lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. Operating machinery and/or power tools
