We also leverage our many XmAb technologies by engaging in multiple collaborations with leading global biopharmaceutical companies, including Novartis, Amgen and Genentech, among others. Including our partners, over a dozen XmAb drug candidates are advancing through clinical development, and the first antibody that incorporates an XmAb technology has been approved for commercial marketing in the United States.

This position will be responsible for the management and security of our network and server infrastructure as well as to provide escalated technical support for all company employees including onsite visits to our San Diego office.

The successful candidate will have a mature, work-oriented attitude with a positive outlook toward solving problems and providing help. Strong troubleshooting abilities and a deep interest in business-related technologies are a must. The candidate needs to be able to follow directions and complete all tasks in a timely and thorough manner, but also be able to work without extensive supervision and prioritize duties when necessary and knowing when to escalate if needed. The ability to explain technical issues to non-technical staff is a necessity. Also required are a desire to accept challenges, continually learn, and expand both technical and non-technical skills. Integrity and honesty are essential.

Job Duties include:

  • Serve as a direct backup to the current System Administrator
  • Provide onsite support with regularly scheduled trips to the San Diego office twice per month for technical break/fix issues and ongoing understanding of IT/business needs 
  • Provide exemplary service, training and support for all end-user, software and hardware requests and problems
  • Provision and deprovision end-user accounts, access, software and hardware
  • Secure, maintain and support both business and laboratory environments
  • Create, update, and review departmental procedures, support tickets, and knowledge base
  • Maintain backups and redundancy of all critical IT and laboratory systems
  • Assist with ongoing security initiatives including training, education, system hardening, vulnerability scanning and remediation
  • Assist with third-party vendor risk management
  • Research IT solutions for current problems and future needs
  • Help in the planning and implementation of critical IT projects
  • Adhere to strict rules, regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Completion of assignments, tasks and jobs with minimal supervision and within deadlines
  • Rotational on-call coverage

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
  • Experience in a regulated business environment/industry preferred
  • Good understanding of Governance, Risk, Compliance, and/or Cybersecurity concepts preferred 
  • At least 4-5 years of experience in IT support, system/network administration, or equivalent education and/or training
  • 3-4 years of experience with hardware and software installation and troubleshooting 
  • 3-4 years of experience maintaining a Microsoft Windows environment in an business setting
  • Excellent functional knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Office 365, and experience with other critical business application
  • Excellent functional knowledge and experience with system administration in a Microsoft environment covering hardware, software, updates, mail, storage and backups  
  • Excellent functional knowledge and experience with network administration covering IP networking, firewalls, routers, switches, network and security appliances
  • Excellent functional knowledge and experience with endpoint administration covering desktops, laptops, phones, printers/scanners, and conferencing equipment
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills working with the IT team, internal business units, partners, third-party vendors and regulators
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Strong understanding of the correlation between business and IT
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • Good attitude, approachability, aptitude, and coachability are highly desirable traits

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the primary functions of this position.

The physical demands of the office are normally association with extended amounts of time sitting and using office equipment, including a computer, keyboard and mouse, which can cause muscle strain. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit. Periodic light lifting of supplies and materials may apply. Work is performed in an office environment.
